The One Room Challenge Week 4

This week I added some green to my dining space with a fiddle leaf fig tree…

Arianna Belle One Room Challenge Week 4 // Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree from NDI http://ariannabelle.com/blog

It’s a 7 footer and fills the empty corner beautifully. Both my husband and I love it. Best of all, I can’t kill it! It’s an artificial one from NDIthe place to go for the best faux botanicals and florals (did you see Jana’s peonies during the spring ORC season??)  I made an attempt to have a real one, but it sadly didn’t survive.  Perhaps if I tried harder or did a different plant I’d have better luck, but aside from the fact that this downstairs space gets very limited natural light due to our covered patio and the lack of windows, it’s really not a priority for me right now to try to improve my gardening skills. For this reason I decided getting a faux tree was the way to go.

In other news, I gathered (most of) the supplies I need for the Expedit makeover. I’ve decided to add doors and dress them up with decorative panels from the fabulous company O’verlays.  I ordered a custom greek key pattern and I’m so excited to attach the panels.

I’m not sure what placement I want to go with though. There are four options:

I’ll leaning towards Option 1 or 3.

I’m hitting myself over the head because unfortunately, for some dumb reason, I only picked up six doors and I needed eight. Doh! So I need to make the hour and a half drive out to Ikea again to pick up the other two.

I wish I had more updates and photos for you, but I’m still waiting on most of the bigger things.  I should hopefully (fingers crossed!) have an arm chair, dining chairs, and a rug to share photos of during next week’s post. Stay tuned!

It’s coming along….so exciting. Love the plant and you are right, NDI is such a great source. I’m a huge fan of faux (good only, of course) if you don’t have the right light. As for the Greek Key design, I vote for 3. It’s going to look so fantastic – especially with the colors you’ve chosen. And can’t wait to see your dining table choice.

I like option 4! And I had no idea you could get fake fiddle leaf plants – genious!

    Love the tree. Option 4

It’s always so hard to tell in photos, but are the lamps white or a cream color. Looking for ones just like that, but sometimes they look beige in person (but not online). Can’t wait to see your finished space.

  5. They’re a nice cream color that varies a bit depending on the light. In some angles they have a slight blush tone to them. You can see another photo of them here: http://blog.ariannabelle.com/2015/10/the-one-room-challenge-week-3.html

What a brilliant idea! And a fake fig tree is perfect. I bought one for my sister and it is already dropping leaves:(

  7. it looks great! I’d go with option 1 or 4
