Do you use a paper planner? While I use a digital task manager to organize my master list of to-do’s, I like to use a paper planner to jot down weekly business notes, and another as a health and wellness diary. There are so many beautiful ones out there that I kinda wish I could find uses for more of them. Below are my favorites:

A couple of months ago I shared a photo of my new home office on Instagram. Slowly but surely I’ve made some updates and while it’s not quite “finished” yet, I’m happy that it’s starting to take shape and no longer looks like an empty box. Here’s what it’s looking like currently:
While most things were carried over from my old office. I did bring in some new art, pillows, accessories and since this office is a bit smaller, a new rug. Also brought in the black ribbon edged curtains from our old bedroom – I love them in here!
Not sure yet if I want to add something in the corner, next to the Expedit. In the old office, I had bookcases on either side. They are now being used for closet organization.
The main wall is still pretty bare. I used the frames that I used to have in my old office, for a gallery wall around the TV in our new living room (photo of that coming soon), so I need to shop for some new ones. I haven’t decided yet though if I want to do a mix or all one color.

Most of you probably know and love See Jane Work– a favorite go-to place for stylish office supplies. What you might not know, is that they recently added several new products to their collection for Office Depot. As soon as I got a preview of the goodies, I knew I needed to add some of them to my workspace, and was excited when Office Depot offered to send over my picks, just in time for a little new year refresh. Here’s a look:

A white stapler to replace my old one that wasn’t working properly anymore. I paired it with the matching white tape dispenser to make a stylish little duo. The tan cup I already had, but is also from the line. Love that it’s sturdy enough to hold my heavy gold tailor scissors.

Sugar Paper is a high quality paper goods company started by Chelsea Shukov and Jamie Grobecker 10 years ago. Late last year they outgrew their original small space and moved their studio to a large warehouse in West LA. These photos give us a peek inside:
Gorgeous right? As a young entrepreneur I find this so inspring. Perhaps one day I’ll get to move my company into a similarly large and beautiful studio 🙂 Gotta dream big right??

In love with this creative workspace from the home of Darcy Miller, illustrator and editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings. It’s the chicest craft room I ever did see! It’s not only fully stocked with all the supplies you could ever need for any creative project, but it’s also beautifully organized. Everything has a home designated based on frequency of use, so things are accessible and easy to find. With the exception of the art supplies which bring a cheerful rainbow array of color to the space, most everything (the walls, floor, ceiling, furniture, and storage containers) is black, white, and gray. This creates a uniform look and keeps the room from feeling chaotic or overwhelming.

Ahh a new year is just around the corner, full of promise and fresh with opportunity to make things happen! When it comes to goals for the year, I find it helpful to plan and lay them out in a calendar that allows me to see at a glance what I should be doing when and when certain deadlines are approaching, so I can get my butt into gear and actually accomplish what I aim to. The Neu Year calendar is perfect for that. I have one in my office, placed vertically on a door that my desk faces. It’s nice to look up from my computer and be able to quickly see the whole year at once. Since it doesn’t have gaps between the months, it has a good flow, which is great for planning across months easily and clearly seeing the distance between any two dates in a year.

At the end of this month my husband and I will be moving to an area closer to where he works. We signed a lease on a two bedroom apartment and I’m excited that I’ll get to use one of the bedrooms as my office. Woohoo! Of course, I’m already dreaming up ideas on how to set it up. It’s not a very large room but I think it might fit a sideboard in addition to my desk and chair. I’m thinking maybe something like this:
I’m also thinking of paint colors. The room doesn’t get a ton of natural light so I’ll probably go for something light to keep it from looking dark and depressing. Any favorite paint colors in the white/ivory family that you’d recommend?

It’s almost a brand new year (can you believe it?) and for many that means a new planner with fresh pages for jotting down plans, goals, to-do’s etc. I’ll be getting a 2012 refill for my pink leather Kate Spade organizer (pricey but one of those purchases I don’t at all regret because I use it everyday and even after a few years it still looks great).
